Alchemy Lacquers - Gilded Lagoon

If you're not familiar with Alchemy Lacquers yet, it's time. Slowly, but surely I am adding more and more of these unique pretties to my collection. I have shared a couple other of her colors with you, and they are:

Today's color is just as pretty as the others, Gilded Lagoon.

Alchemy Lacquers has an ever-growing collection of polishes called the "Gildeds".
All of the bases have a gold to silver shift and feature various glitters that are inspired by their name.

Gilded Lagoon is a "turquoise tinted, gold to silver shifting metallic with multi-sized green, turquoise and dark blue metallic and holographic glitter."
I love the texture of this polish!
In my pictures I am wearing three coats of Gilded Lagoon, and one coat of Seche Vite.
It's like a magical mermaid, My friend Sady calls it "Mermaid pond".

I had my eyes on this polish for a very long time, and nabbed it when Alchemy had their awesome black friday sale.
There are many other Gilded polishes to be had. In fact, Alchemy Lacquers is now offering a Gilded Mini set. You can get a little taste of all of these stunning polishes that she offers.

I just placed a pre-order for four Christmas/Hanukkah polishes. Two of them are Gilded shades, and I am so excited to get them!

Indigo Bananas - Galactic Halo (H)

I know, I know...there's flakies EVERYWHERE. I love all the flakies, I think they are beautiful! They look pretty unassuming in the bottle, but then you layer them over black and POW! They are really transformational. I don't have any of the topcoat flakies but I DO know of some other bloggers with awesome swatches...

Check them out!

(swatches on the Darling Diva site)

The flakie craze has definitely hit the nail community! I decided that I was going to practice restraint and choose the ONE flakie polish that really spoke to me. I saw a swatch of Galactic Halo by Indigo Bananas and went crazy for it. I had seen it on the IB site first, but it wasn't until I saw it swatched by Amanda at Amanda Loves Polish on Instagram. I went and bought it immediately!

There's a lot of pictures in this post, just to warn you!

Drumroll please..............

I am in love with this polish! I understand now, what all the fuss is about!
I have on two coats (only two!) in my pictures.

This polish looks great indoors, out in the sun, in my lightbox, with flash and with no flash. In every light, it's different. The cousin of this polish is Accretion Disk and if you want to see a FANTASTIC swatch, click [here]. Jenne has fantastic swatches, doesn't she?

The picture above is under a lamp that we have in the salon I work in. It really shows the metallic effect in the flakies, even a little bit of the holo!

Normally, I don't include a photo taken with only the camera flash, because it's not the best representation of the color. This is just a gratuitous holo shot. It's so awesome!

Here you can see all the bitty baby flakes in there!

This picture is here to show all of the color shift that this color has. It is also most realistic to what it looks like indoors, in person.

I went to dinner last night, and our server said, "Wow. Your nails are really pretty. That color is awesome."
Even 20 something guys think that Galactic Halo is awesome!
This color and Accretion Disk(the green one) are available in a Holo and a Non-Holo version.
I don't know how long these colors will be around, but you should really get your hands on them immediately!

Northern Star Polish - Immortal Kiss and Be Merry, Bish!

How was Thanksgiving? Ours was pretty cold, and it's still cold now. Frigid, in fact. When I bundled up my kiddo for the bus stop she kind of resembled the little brother in A Christmas Story.

Today is "Cyber Monday". Not only are there great deals from all of your favorite retailers, there are TONS of deals to be had from just about every artisan polish maker there is! I'll give you a rundown of the sales after I show you a couple colors from Northern Star Polish!

My favorite thing about ordering from indie polish creators is seeing the packaging when it comes in the mail. The package I received from Northern Star not only came super fast (yay for local shipping!) it's also SUPER ADORABLE.

The first of the two colors I got is called "Immortal Kiss".
This color is "a dark burgundy that can lean purple or brown depending on skin tone with a light holographic finish."

I feel like there is more to this polish than the description can convey. It's a very "dusty" cool purple that has a slight shimmer of violet that is hard to catch on my camera. It starts out very sheer, but builds up to a lovely finish with three easy coats.

IMMORTAL KISS

The next color I have to show you, is "Be Merry, Bish!"
This color is a bright red that leans a little pink because of the pink shimmer throughout.
I also used three coats for this one, and one coat of topcoat.

The texture of both of these colors is very smooth. When applying, I had to be careful to not load up the brush too much, or I would have had polish all up in my cuticles.

I picked these up along with a cuticle oil and also received a couple sample sizes of oil as well.

The verdict? Super cute packaging, super fast shipping, cute names and of course, quality polish with great color payoff. Win, in my book.
