Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer - Current Colors

Happy Tuesday, friends! Today I have some lovely shades to show you, courtesy of Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer. This is a new to me brand, but after trying them, I am convinced that I will be adding more to my collection. 

Todays post has three shades that are already part of the regular lineup...in fact, two of today's shades are on sale right now!

Let's get to it, shall we?

Chlorine Light

Chlorine light is a brilliant blue linear holo with rainbow flakes and a slight metallic finish.
You know how I feel about blue polish! This is a gorgeous blue shade that I think you could easily wear all year long! In my pictures I am wearing two easy coats of Chlorine Light and one coat of Seche Vite.

Self Satisfied

Self Satisfied is a glitter topper in a green shimmer base. This polish is filled with all sorts of glitters in many shapes and sizes. I used it over "Ash and Emerald" by Emerald and Ash.
I had to do a little bit of fishing for glitter and placed some pieces, but I feel like that's pretty normal for a heavy shaped glitter topper. I love it, it's a fun glitter!

Skating in the Snow

Skating in the snow is a white crelly base filled with purple and aqua hexes, iridescent glitters and fuchsia and teal dots. This white crelly base is the perfect milky crelly and the glitter isn't overpowering. In my pictures I have on three coats of Skating in the Snow and one coat of Seche Vite.

Happy Valentines Mani

Ahhhhh love. The day of adoration, love, hearts and kisses is almost upon us. My nails are all ready for Valentine's day, although I must admit I'll probably change them before friday! I felt like doing a little water marbling, and a little stamping too. Apparently I felt like challenging (torturing) myself today...

Yep, there's a whole lot goin on in this mani! I used a white base under my water marble, and also under my stamped finger. Here's a list of my colors...

Here's the thing about water marbling...it's kind of a pain in the ass. The end result is worth it, but just barely! I'm joking...I love the trial and error of water marbling. I made a mini tutorial a while back, you can check it out HERE. It seems there are so many variables when it comes to marbling, so what I will tell you is to try and try again. The same goes for stamping...I probably stamped 8 different times before I kept what you see in the pictures. Even after all of that, I don't LOVE LOVE it. It's cute...but it could look better. 

Here's another tip for water marbling/masking your fingers for nail art...

Use elmers glue!

Rocked my world! You can just peel it right off!!! The thing I hate the MOST about water marbling, gradients and stamping is how stained your hands are afterwards. My hands are SUPER dry so if I don't protect my skin, I end up looking like Lorde at the Grammy's...

Hehe...speaking of gradients, stay tuned for a gradient sometime this week!

Cozy up with some Christmas sweater nails!

I'm here with a short and sweet post today. I've got some Christmas sweater inspired nail art for you! I took part of a Reddit challenge that asked for ugly Christmas sweater nails...and I must say, I think mine turned out kinda cute!!

I used my DIY nail decal method for this mani. I have a snowflake paper punch that came in super handy!!

The glitter in this Mani is "O Christmas Tree 2.0" by Model City Polish!

DIY nail decals!

In this post I'm gonna show you how to make these super cute nail decals, with just a few simple things you probably already have at home!

I started the idea for this post with a lovely forest green that I purchased at Big Lots for a buck! I was thinking it would be great for another beautiful bargain! I decided then, that it would look beautiful matted! 

Great. Right?

I was inspired to try a multi-day mani challenge by a fellow Reddit lacquer lover and I started trying to come up with ways to change up the plain polish I had on! Pinterest is great for getting inspiration too, and I found a little tutorial on how to make these with a plastic bag, some nail polish and a paper punch! 

Just paint your colors, and let them dry. Let them dry for a long time, or your polish will tear (like the gold did on my bag). For my decals, I used a mini heart punch and a pinking shear!

Paint some topcoat on your nail and stick them on! I used a wax pencil to make picking up and placing them very easy. After you stick them on, throw on some more topcoat and you're good to go! 

(This could be a good UND fan mani!)

I love these DIY nail stickers, and I can't wait to make more!!

What's your sign?

I have this thing for Black Cat Lacquer! Their colors are awesome. The names are awesome. They are kinda edgy, and kind of rock and roll. I ordered a couple colors from the "Zodiac" collection, which is a fairly new collection. In this release, there are 12 colors, one for each astrological sign. I got "Cancer", because that's my sign, and "Aquarius" because it looked super awesome. Let's just say I wasn't disappointed.

"Cancer" is a rainbow shimmer base, packed with grey and white glitter of all shapes and sizes. I swatched it on a few different colors and couldn't make up my mind, so I used all the colors!

It went on very smoothly, and evenly for the most part. I did have to fish around a little bit for some of the bigger pieces of glitter, like the moons and stars. Other than that, it's a gorgeous glitter topper that would look great with lots of colors!

Up next is "Aquarius", this is a dark purple jelly with a MAJOR assortment of glitters! Large circles, flakes, stars, diamonds and micro glitter. I've decided I have a love/hate relationship with this one. The color is GORGEOUS, I mean like, major "WOW" factor. The application, however, was a little frustrating for me. This polish felt a little thick for my liking, but my guess is it's because there is so much glitter in there. Once I put my topcoat on, it seemed to be just fine!

It really is a beauty isn't it? The weirdness in the application definitely won't stop me from wearing it!

Had to make my mani a little spookier (Bonus post!)

Good evening! The leopard spots were cool and everything, but I want to try out as many options with my gradient as I can. I was thinking I should be trying to practice my stamping skills, seeing as how I do have a Halloween stamping plate in my stash. Let me tell you, I swore a LOT while trying to stamp this time. A lot.

All that swearing for one stamped finger. Still looks cool though. Right? My cuticles look tore up, I had to use a lot of acetone since I kept screwing up that ONE. DAMN. FINGER. My colors are China Glaze "Sun of a Peach" for the orange, Hard Candy "Black Tie Optional" and Konad black stamping polish.

Time to go practice my stamping skills! 

Snow leopard tutorial!

I was reminded yesterday that I was kinda slackin on the blog posts...so here we are! I'd been wanting to do a sponge gradient for awhile and I thought I would mix it up with some leopard spots too! Both of these techniques are super easy, you just have to have the right tools! 

First, you'll need to choose a color scheme. Second, paint a base that corresponds with the colors you want to use. Use a large dotting tool to make spots of various sizes. At first glance,

 they kinda look like cow spots, don't you think? 

After you have dotted your spots, use a small brush or dotting tool to make "C" shapes on either side of your spot. Remember, it doesn't have to be perfect! To fill space, I added some dots too.

After I finished my spots, I did my sponged gradient. 

Ta daaaaa! Here's the finished product! This gradient is giving me some inspiration for some Halloween type nail art! Look for a gradient tutorial in my next post :-)

I went all out this time!

For today's post, I thought I'd include a little step by step so that you can see just how easy it is to make some cool nail art for yourself! I don't know about you, but I'm ALWAYS checking out pinterest for cool nail ideas. I saw something similar to this a long time ago, and had forgotten about it until yesterday. Here in the midwest, fall is fast approaching and so I felt like doing something bright, flashy and summery while I still can! There's a little bit of everything in this mani, so get ready!

Isn't it fun?? I'm showing you my finished product first, then the steps to get this look.

The pink is China Glaze in "Neon and on", the white is Revlon Top Speed in "Spirit" and the black and white craziness is Hard Candy's "Black Tie Optional". I also used a Wet 'n Wild quick dry polish for the black. (I HIGHLY recommend using quick drying polish for nail art like this)

First, get your base colors all ready to go. For neons and pastels, I always put a base of white underneath...they just look better that way! 

If you've been wondering how to get the chevron effect that's everywhere right now, this is the easiest way. I tried cutting the tape by itself, and all I wanted to do was throw the roll of tape out the window! Use wax paper and apply the tape to it, then cut! I've also done this when I use a 

paper punch to do cutouts on my nails.

Stick it on! That's all ya gotta do.

Boom. It's that easy.

Next, get yourself some dotting tools. I picked up my set from Amazon for less than $2. 

(Tip: look for a seller in the U.S. or somewhere close to you, or you will be waiting FOREVER for them to come in the mail)

Striping tape! This is another one that runs real cheap, just 

check where it's coming from before you place your order.

Here's another pic. I used one coat of Seche Vite when I was all finished. Make sure your designs are TOTALLY dry before top-coating. The black and white can run when you paint on your topcoat. Sorry for the blurry thumb. I used the Black Tie Optional for one of the nails, because it's fun and it reminds me of the '90's and Lisa Frank folders! It looks especially cool over gradient painted nails!
