Emerald and Ash - Cuticle oil review and GIVEAWAY!

Hello friends!!! I am here to spread some Emerald and Ash cuticle oil love! As you may or may not know, Emerald and Ash makes some seriously amazing cuticle oil. The reason it's so amazing? It's fast absorbing, and gives major moisture to your dry and thirsty cuticles. It's also incredibly easy to apply, since it has a handy dandy little metal roller ball for application.

E&A uses a unique blend of oils that includes, fractionated coconut oil, grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, meadowfoam seed oil, tea tree oil, vitamin A oil and vitamin E oil.

They offer 85 scents in both essential oils and fragrance oils. Those 85 scents can be blended into an even larger selection of scents.

E&A cuticle oil comes in 3 sizes:

10mL, 7mL, and 4mL which is what makes up their 3 packs.

I am BEYOND thrilled that they've added the 10mL as an option.

My favorite scents are Pumpkin Apple Butter, Monkey Farts, Glitter and Kulu Bay.

I know you're wondering just WHAT does a monkey fart smell like? It smells like what your childhood memory of tutti frutti bubble gum balls tastes like! You'll be wishing everything smelled like Monkey Farts.

Here are my custom blended oils

My favorite custom blend is Rasperry and Vanilla Bean. I got the idea for that one from Courtney of "Swatcher, polish ranger". Leather Jacket and Tobacco is what some people I know have nicknamed "Daniel Craig"...it has a very distinctly leather scent to it. The chocolate and cinnamon combo was my friend Erin's idea, and I love it. Rose, Eucalyptus and fir needle was inspired by a flower arrangement I had in my home around Christmas. What's really awesome and surprising about it is that it's been helpful with my stuffy nose, because of the eucalyptus!

The other thing I'm sure you're wondering is, do they work? Abso-freaking-lutely! These oils work better than any oil, balm or lotion that I've ever tried. EVER. That's a big statement, I know...but if you are diligent about moisturizing with them, you will see major results.

Here's a little before and after of my own nails.

#1 is post polish removal...dry, peely and VERY scary!

#2 is FIVE minutes after one application of oil

#3 is the next morning, after working in the oil about once every 30-60 minutes.

Sometimes I follow the every 30-60 minute reapplication regimen when I get really dry.

It works so incredibly well.

Here's a bonus pic of my nails last night, I brought down the length and aggressively moisturized my needy cuticles.

Emerald and Ash: Black Ice

Today's polish is one that really surprised me! It is my first Emerald and Ash polish, and it was gifted to me by my secret Santa, Erin! Upon first glance it looks like it's just a good old pewter silver. Wrong-o! It is, in fact, a silver polish but it also has a gorgeous holo to it as well. Today's color is Black Ice, and it is part of Emerald and Ash's Winter Nights collection. 

I had to throw in a shot of my seldom photographed right hand! The texture of this polish is great, I achieved full coverage with two thin coats. 

  

The above picture really shows that fabulous holo effect. Sorry about the dry cuticles...yikes!

Speaking of dry cuticles...Emerald and Ash also offers a FANTASTIC array of oils to calm your dry and cracking cuticles. I ordered the Pumpkin Apple Butter scent after being advised to do so by many people.

I just love this cuticle oil. I feel like it hydrates my nails and cuticles better than ALL of the others that I have tried. The winters here in MN are so cold and dry, I need all the help I can get. 

The square glass bottles are very unique and the cuticle oil has a user friendly metal roller for easy application. If you plan on ordering, CHOOSE THIS SCENT, it is absolutely delicious.

When beauty betrays you...

Alright...time for some cold, hard reality. We all know that nail polish is awesome. We all know that the color options out there are staggering. I love painting my nails every day, at times. Sometimes I have 5, 6 or more polishes going on in one mani. 

Sometimes, those lovely colors betray you.

EEEEEEEEEK!!! That is what's left on my nails after removing my Christmas Mani. For the green I used Klean Color's "metallic green". Never again. Never again will I use that color. I had TWO COATS of nail envy under that polish! 

In my crisis, I consulted with some fellow online lacqueristas. I've heard in the past that baking soda, water and lemon is a good way to get rid of staining. My pal Erin had some Christmas staining too, and she recommended that I try making a paste with those three things and SCRUBBING, SCRUBBING, SCRUBBING!!!

I worked with this consistency for awhile, but then added more baking soda until it was more like wet sand. I scrubbed for a very long time, and I have to say...it did work! After I felt like I couldn't scrub anymore, I washed my hands well and grabbed my buffing block. 

HOORAY! 99% stain free. There are still a few faint spots, but I didn't want to buff them anymore than I had already.  Please pardon my dry cuticles. After a couple generous coats of nail envy, at bedtime I loaded my nails up with my new Emerald and Ash Pumpkin Apple Butter cuticle oil!

That cuticle oil just might be my new favorite. It smells delicious, and it soaks into the skin right away. Today, my cuticles feel moisturized and they don't look quite as tore up!

Here is my final result. Much better, right??
