More Clownin Around!

I had so much fun with Polish Me Silly's "Clowning Around" that I needed to have a repeat! Not too long ago, I posted a review of the Photometry collection by Emerald & Ash. (You can view that post here!) The texture of those polishes is sheer, and GREAT for sandwiching glitter in between coats. I tried a "Crelly Sandwich" with a couple of the E&A anniversary polishes and it turned out SUPER CUTE. (You can see that one here!) 

One of my favorite things is a white crelly polish with glitter mixed in.

Mie Scattering from the Photometry collection is a perfect shimmery white crelly. What better than to layer it with Clowning around?

So CUTE! It's another Easter egg mani!

Polish Me Silly - Clownin' Around

I'm so ready for spring and summer! I have so many fun, bright colors that have been stashed away all winter. I picked up a set of OPI minis from the Euro Centrale collection just before Christmas and I forgot that I had them...until last night!

This color is "You're such a buda-pest!"

This color is so pretty, I was having a hard time deciding what to put over it. You simply cannot have plain colored nails...right? 

First, I tried stamping and the black that I used just wasn't what I was looking for. It took away from the cute springiness of this color. I stood in front of my stash of polish, trying to decide what to use and I spotted this Polish Me Silly color that I've had since Christmas!

Here's "Clowning Around" by Polish me Silly.

Doesn't that look cute! It reminds me of a malted milk Easter egg!

I'm so excited to use this one, now that it's neon season again!! I didn't expect it to still be so bright, considering I didn't layer it over white!

In my pictures I have three coats of "You're such a buda-pest" and one coat of "Clowning Around". 

I did one coat of Seche Vite last night, and I could still feel the glitter pieces a little bit. This morning, I put a coat of Gelous over it and then another coat of Seche Vite, and it seemed to smooth it out a bit. 

There's a bit of bubbling in there, as you can see. I think it's because of all the clear coats on the nail.

Emily de Molly - Monet's Garden

Hello there! Welcome to spring! It really doesn't feel like spring here in Minnesota, but the snow has melted a bit and that's a step in the right direction. I have lots of thoughts of spending time outside and trying my hand at gardening, since we are new homeowners. I have to say, I have not had the best of luck when it comes to keeping plants (particularily indoor ones) alive. I'm gonna give the whole gardening thing a try this spring. We'll see what happens...

Speaking of gardens, I have an absolutely lovely shade to show you today. I haven't yet added any Emily de Molly polish to my collection, but my friend Erin was kind enough to loan this one to me! She warned me...she told me that I was going to love it and get hooked. "You need a bottle and a backup, and a backup for the backup" is what she told me. She was right. This color is so pretty, and so complex. It's kind of like a Monet painting.

Today's color is "Monet's Garden" by Emily de Molly.

Yeah...I need to add this to my own collection. What an enabler, that Erin. She's got an enviable collection, and has loaned me some amazing polishes from makers that I've not yet gotten my hands on.

Monet's Garden in perfect in 3 coats, with a coat each of Gelous and Seche Vite.
The glitter distribution is super easy to work with. I didn't have to do any dabbing. Also, I really like the consistency of this jelly base.

Monet's Garden is a green jelly base with green, lime, neon green, pink, purple and blue glitters of various sizes throughout. Super squishy and super lovely.

Emily de Molly is a brand that I hadn't played with yet, but I like this color a whole lot.  It's an Australian made brand, and some of the coveted "Forces" shades can be a real bugger to get your hands on, from what I understand. There is an EDM store on Big Cartel, but you can only order from that site if you live in Australia. This brand is, however, also available on Llarowe.  I'll be keeping my eye out for this one, so I can have my very own "garden" in a bottle!

HARE Polish - Bury the Hatchetfish

FINALLY!!!! I got my hands on a bottle of "Bury the Hatchetfish" by HARE Polish!! This is one of those so called "lemmings" you may or may not have heard some of the polish obsessed speak of. I had been looking for this color for awhile, and there were many out there...but I wasn't willing to pay full price for a used bottle of polish. I found one on Storenvy.com for a great price and I'm so excited to show you my first bottle of HARE Polish!

Bury the Hatchetfish is a "Greige" (grey+beige) crelly with all kinds of sparkly luminescent glitters in it. There's purple, blue, and green swimming (ha!) together in this polish. Hatchetfish was one of four colors released in the Fall 2012 collection that was inspired by marine bioluminescence.

At first I started with two coats, topcoated it quickly and ran out the door...but as I was looking at it in natural light, I decided it needed another coat. I maybe could have even done 4. So, anyway, this is 3 coats with a coat of Seche Vite too.

I feel like this polish actually looks like a fish! A beautiful, magical lemming hatchetfish.

Model City Polish - October Sunset

Today I have a quick swatch of a lovely shade by Model City Polish. October Sunset was released with a bunch of other beauties in a collection called "Ode to a Southern Holo". This is another color, that for some reason, I kept putting off buying. Don't ask me why...this color is amazing!

October Sunset is a beautiful color somewhere between periwinkle and lavender. This shade also has an amazing scattered holo in certain lights! In my pictures I have two coats with one coat of topcoat, but if you applied carefully, you could get away with one coat.

See how the color changes a little when you light it up more? I just love it!

Model City Polish - Sunday Morning

Happy Sunday everyone! I have just one lovely spring shade from Model City Polish to show you. The second I unwrapped this beauty and saw the label...one song came to my mind.

Sunday Morning is one of Model City's spring shades that are ready for release on March 22nd at 12pm CST! This color is an adorable white crelly (Woo hoo!) with multi colored pastel satin glitters throughout.

Isn't it darling? I love how it looks like a candy sprinkled sugar cookie, or a nonpareil candy!

This color is PACKED with glitter! I used three coats in my pictures and I had lots of glitter with each coat. It's a sheer white crelly, so for opacity, you definitely need three coats.  Most of the glitter pieces are little circles, and the green ones are hexes.

Who's ready for Easter? This spring shade is a perfect, pastel beauty!

Model City Polish - T-Virus and Anti-Virus

Nina, the creative Genius at Model City Polish is a sci-fi fanatic. One of her upcoming collections was inspired by the Resident Evil series, her personal favorite. My husband and I enjoy watching the Resident Evil movies together, so I was very excited to get the opportunity to check out a couple of the colors in this new collection.

In the world of Resident Evil, the T Virus (Tyrant Virus)  was created by the Umbrella corporation. It was developed to create bio-organic weapons. Overall the goal was to develop a superhuman named Tyrant, in honor of the virus. This is a VERY condensed version of what the T Virus is...this is what created all of the "Zombies" in the Resident Evil universe.

Nina's T-Virus is actually very beautiful. It's a blue jelly with a teeny bit of crelly haze to it. It gives it that "viral" look, if you ask me. Mixed in are small, square and hex glitter along with just a little bit of bar glitter too. I used two coats of T Virus and one coat of Seche Vite in my pictures.

(Once again, another gorgeous blue polish for my collection!!)

The Anti-Virus is just what it sounds like. It was made to purge the system of the T-Virus. However, if you've been bitten too many times, or have been infected for too long...the Anti Virus may not be able to help you.

I go back and forth with green polish...sometimes I like it...sometimes I don't. THIS green polish is gorgeous! I didn't want to take it off to swatch the next color. It's a super squishy green jelly with all sizes of silver glitter. I used three coats of Anti Virus and one coat of Seche Vite.

Awesome right? This green is spot on!

Model City Polish - Geminids

I've got another Model City Stunner for you today! In this blog post, I'd like to show you, Geminids. This gorgeous blue color is inspired by the Geminids meteor shower that comes around every December 13th and 14th. This color was released with the Christmas 2013 collection and I've had my eye on it ever since. 

You know how I love my blue polishes...and this one is exceptionally gorgeous.

Geminids is a rich blue jelly packed with micro blue and micro silver holographic glitters. 

 These pictures do not do this polish justice. If you're into blue polish like I am, you need this one!

I also really love the new look of the Model City bottles, don't you? 

I just love those little bar glitters in there, don't you? It's like a celestial event on my fingertips!

Model City Polish - PB&J

I am using this post to kick off a WHOLE bunch of Model City excitement that's coming your way! I got in touch with the lovely Nina of Model City Polish via a polish swap group on Facebook. Long story short, I acquired some AMAZING polishes! PB&J is one of those said polishes!

This polish is a rich purple jelly with two sizes of gold hex glitter. The glitter in this color is spread very evenly, so it was really nice to apply. Just like with any other Jelly, you have to be light handed. More than two thin coats look best. In my pictures I have three coats of PB&J, a layer of Gelous and a coat of Seche Vite.

Another thing that I love about MCP polishes is the brush! I have large nail beds, so I get great coverage and ease of application. My nails tend to look streaky and sloppy if I'm using a teeny brush.

Look at how yummy and squishy it is!

PB&J is a color that I highly recommend you add to your collection!

Sponge Gradient - Too Yacht to Handle

Happy Wednesday everyone! I know my last post was a hard act to follow...those Emerald and Ash polishes are GORGEOUS! Check them out here!

It's been a long time since I've done a sponge gradient. Since I love the two colors I chose, I thought I'd show you the first time I used these two colors together in a "gradient". 

(Remember, I said it was the FIRST TIME)

Go easy on me. That was about a year ago!

Let's take a look at my nails, today...

There's a few things to be said about the last year. I've been using a nail strengthener as a base coat, every time I polish. I've also been moisturizing much more than I used to. I've also stopped nipping at my cuticles so much.  My cleanup has gotten better too, don't you think? 

My colors in this mani are Venique's "Kitten Heel Honey" and China Glaze's "Too Yacht to Handle". If you want to try a sponge gradient too, check out my mini tutorial here!

I used a matte topcoat this time, to cut down on glare. I like the way it looks over the gradient too.

Emerald and Ash - 1st Anniversary Polish Collection

Hello again! Today, I have a very special collection by Emerald and Ash. Along with the Photometry Collection, I received 3 additional polishes to celebrate Emerald and Ash's first anniversary, or Primary Circumgyration as they like to call it! 

Also included in my package was a new cuticle oil in Daisy scent which actually closely mimics the Marc Jacobs Daisy fragrance, as a way to nourish your nails between paintings. Also it will be offered in a Deconstructed Daisy Duo that we will be offering for our celebration. The duo will consist of a bottle of the original Deconstructed Daisy and the new Deconstructed Daisy Holo and a bottle of the Daisy nail oil.

Deconstructed Daisy Holo

Deconstructed Daisy Holo is the polish that started it all! It's still the same polish that everyone has grown to love. Full of various sizes of green and white glitter with a speckling of yellow micro glitter. The added bonus is a spattering of holo. Not too much, so that you can see the polish you wear as a base coat, but enough to make it sparkle in the sun.

Here, I have DD shown in one coat over Aurora.

DD holo is LOADED with glitter! I love that yellow glitter in there...it gives it a quirky quality, don't you think?

Ash & Emerald

Ash & Emerald is an ash colored crelly that comes alive with a flash of emerald green shimmer and a spattering of green micro flakes. Full coverage at 2-3 coats, depending on your application.

I love the complexity of this color. It's grey, but it's green...and it's SO sparkly! Pictures in my lightbox just don't do it justice. The flakies really add something special too! 

I used three coats of Ash & Emerald in my pics.

Happy Primary Circumgyration

Happy Primary Circumgyration is a green leaning white crelly stunner that was created especially for their Primary Circumgyration (one year anniversary). It is a pastel beauty that shifts between aqua and green shimmer depending on the light. It also has beautiful micro flakes that shift from aqua to green and a helping of holo that make it come alive! Full coverage at 3 coats, depending on your base color. Can also be worn over a white base color.

This is another favorite of mine. It looks very Extraterrestrial to me. It has a green-white feel to it, but with the shimmer it looks extraordinary! 

In my pictures I used 3 coats of Happy Primary Circumgyration.

Now, I've got some BONUS pics for you. My favorite type of polish is a crelly base with glitter mixed in, particularily light colored or white crellys. I used Deconstructed Daisy Holo and sandwiched it in between Happy Primary Circumgyration.  Here's a yummy, crelly sandwich for you!

I am IN LOVE with these two colors together!
